Touching the Body - Touching the Heart
CPD course in Biodynamic Massage for Body-workers
Course facilitator: Carlien van Heel
Six enjoyable mornings practising and experiencing the richness, subtlety and effectiveness of Biodynamic massage.
Bodywork, be it conventional medicine, complementary medicine or an enjoyable bodywork treatment, can spark emotional responses in the client.
The touch seems to re-awaken ‘forgotten’ emotional realities, positive and negative. Practitioners should be sensitive of the emotional impact of their touch, understand it and interact with it.
Biodynamic Massage is often used within Biodynamic Body Psychotherapy, but can also be used as a treatment in its own right.
Our essence and qualities, our past and present emotions, are alive in our bodies and can be reached through bodywork.
The course, designed for body-workers, will give you greater insight into the emotional impact of bodywork.
You will learn:
- How to connect to the whole person through touch
- How different forms of Biodynamic Massage help with different emotional and physical needs
- How to respond when massage (bodywork) brings up emotions
- How Biodynamic Massage helps digest emotional and physical stress
- How the biofeedback of the 'psycho-peristalsis' helps guide the massage
- How you personally deal with stress and how to treat yourself
This course is mainly intended for professionals - massage practitioners, holistic body-workers, nurses and doctors, but is also open to those interested in massage and psychotherapy.

August Bank Holiday Intensive
This workshop is designed for people who want to experience directly some of the depth and breadth of Biodynamic Body Psychotherapy. It will be conducted by staff members of LSBP.
Biodynamic work can bring us in touch with our inmost powers and secrets, deepest wounds and pain, and at the same time can enable us to reach blissful levels of pleasure. It is difficult to describe the experience of this work because it ranges so widely, and often materialises beyond words.
Moving through the chaos of the unconscious, we trust that at work in us is an underlying movement towards health. We find pockets of order and stability, like unexpected islands to rest on.
Connecting to that core of order in ourselves is a pleasurable and empowering experience. It enables us to listen to our inner voice and our impulses from within: to feel our personal truth for this present moment. Allowing us to be more fully who we are, in all our complexity and beauty.
The workshop is non-residential.

“She Won’t Stand Up for Herself” – Introductory Weekend Workshop
Is this just a metaphor or literal reality? We will explore several such expressions, bringing to
life how our emotions live in our bodies.
Our introductory weekend workshops are designed to give you a personal experience of the ways we work. This includes elementary Biodynamic Massage and our approach to group interaction. We also introduce some of the basic biodynamic concepts underlying our work. The facilitator may offer some individual work with a volunteer participant, to give further insight into the biodynamic approach.
No previous knowledge or experience of psychotherapy is required. If you are considering applying for the Diploma Course, the first step is to come to an Introductory Workshop.

“The diaphragm is the gateway to the unconscious”
“The diaphragm is the gateway to the unconscious” - so says Gerda Boyesen. To hold back our feelings, we hold back our breath. But perhaps we do not realise we are doing that. Or how much of ourselves we are repressing, as we do so. This week-end explores the significance of the different ways we breathe.
