Biodynamic Body Psychotherapy Training

The London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy (LSBP) offers a post-graduate training in Biodynamic Psychotherapy leading to a UKCP recognised Diploma. From October 2009 the training structure of the post-graduate training in Biodynamic Psychotherapy has changed.

Year 1 will now consist of the Basic Certificate Course in Biodynamic Massage, the Advanced Certificate Course in Biodynamic Massage plus a residential workshop in Yenne and some group and personal process work.

From Year 2 onwards the part-time program is strongly experiential, and students find this a challenging and enriching process of personal growth. Our objective is to develop the personal qualities, theoretical understanding and practical skills of a wise and compassionate psychotherapist.

The aim of the training is to ground students in a deeply embodied understanding of the biodynamic view of the human individual as a unity of mind-body-spirit.

Dedication to one's own personal growth, fulfilment and well-being is seen as prerequisite for offering help to another. Students are encouraged to develop a reflective and exploratory approach to what is presented, and to value and trust their own findings.

Teaching is given in a spirit of interchange and sharing. The trainers are all psychotherapists with many years clinical experience. Groups are small, allowing plenty of individual consideration and group interaction.

Theory and practice are constantly interrelated in the workshops; students develop an embodied understanding of the biodynamic concepts and principles and have ample practical experience in working with the various biodynamic techniques. They gain a profound insight into the processes influencing a person's capacity to make satisfying relationships and to live a productive and enjoyable life.

Biodynamic Psychotherapy helps people recognize and value the workings of their individual life-force and therapists need to know this depth in themselves in order to reach their clients at the most fruitful levels. Therefore students are required to take weekly biodynamic psychotherapy throughout the years of training, as the students personal development is the basis of their training.

This course is approved by the UKCP, and leads to the LSBP Diploma in Biodynamic Psychotherapy, certifying that the student is now fully competent to practice as an independent biodynamic psychotherapist. People holding the LSBP Diploma are therefore eligible for registration with UKCP, that is, their names are added to the UKCP public register of psychotherapists.

LSBP Training in Biodynamic Psychotherapy

Biodynamic Massage is often used in the course of Biodynamic Psychotherapy. The Basic and Advanced Biodynamic Massage courses are professional qualifications in their own right. The courses also can lead on to year II of the Diploma Course in Biodynamic Psychotherapy, for those who want to become a Biodynamic psychotherapist.

Completion of the Basic and Advanced courses in Biodynamic Massage does not guarantee a place on the Diploma course. Students will need to apply for the Diploma training in Biodynamic Psychotherapy and attend an interview.
